Father’s Day Gifts, Crafts & Activities for Kids
Father’s Day is a special celebration observed around the world, with different countries acknowledging the special day at different times throughout the year. Many countries, including the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom celebrate on the third Sunday of June, but down here in Australia and New Zealand, Father’s Day falls on the first Sunday of September.
Father’s Day has been a cherished holiday for decades, offering a wonderful opportunity to get creative in the classroom. Kids love the excitement of making handmade gifts to surprise the special people in their lives, and Father’s Day is no exception. However, it’s important to recognise that this day can be sensitive for some students, particularly in blended, foster, single-parent, LGBTQ, or otherwise non-traditional families. Because of this, many now embrace Father’s Day as a time to celebrate not just fathers, but also uncles, grandfathers, step-fathers, brothers, or any other significant figures in a child’s life.
As a teacher, it’s crucial to be aware of the diverse family dynamics in your classroom. If you choose to celebrate Father’s Day, consider offering options so that every child can create something meaningful for a special person, whoever that may be. This approach ensures that the day remains inclusive and joyful for all students.
With that being said, let’s have a look at some easy, fun and memorable Father’s Day crafts, gifts and activities for your classroom this year!

Father’s Day Fill in the Blanks

This adorable Fill-in-the-Blanks activity sheet includes options for students to write about almost any kind of father figure name you could think of- Dad, Dads, Step Dad, Uncle, Grandpa, Opa, Nonno and more, as well as ‘My Hero’, ‘My Special Person’ and even a space for students to write their own option. Students finish sentences such as ‘He always says…’, ‘He is really good at…’ and ‘I love him because…’ and then draw a picture of themselves with their special person. This activity is guaranteed to elicit some super-cute responses!

Father’s Day Bookmarks
A Father’s Day gift that is personalised, useful and doesn’t take up heaps of space in the cupboard? Say no more - these bookmarks will be adored for years to come. Simply print a front and back design double-sided, or cut out and attach the two sides with glue. Students can decorate their favourite design on the front and fill out the back design with the recipients name and, if they choose, a picture. Then simply laminate and tie a colourful ribbon at the top for a long-lasting and meaningful DIY Father’s Day gift.
This download includes 12 different fun front designs for students to colour in, printed with either ‘DAD’, ‘I🖤U’ or no text, and four different back designs, meaning there are options for every student in your class to make a special bookmark for someone they love.
Father’s Day Gift Voucher Booklet
What do you get for the person who has everything? Their own personalised gift voucher booklet of course! This gives students the opportunity to get really creative - and thoughtful - as they put together their own coupon pack for a loved one. With pre-made vouchers such as ‘Breakfast in Bed’ and ‘A Movie Night’ as well as blank options for students to come up with their own special gifts, dads, family members and special people will love being able to redeem these throughout the year.
This is a special one as it encourages students to practice empathy and kindness by thinking of ways they could make their special person feel loved on Father’s Day. What foods could students make for them, what household chores could they take on for a day to make their lives easier, or what special events could they organise? This activity could be developed into a full lesson using our Ways to Be Kind printable as a brainstorming template.

Father's Day Word Background
This is a simple yet effective gift for students to make for their special person. The background includes a huge range of describing words such as 'funny', 'generous', 'caring', 'wise', as well as the text 'Father's Day 2024'. Students decorate the 'people' template with a picture of themselves with their special person, then cut it out and paste it over the background. Alternatively, they could get extra-creative and draw their own picture to cut out and paste! Either way, this craft activity looks really lovely displayed on coloured cardboard and would be a great gift for students to bring home for Father's Day.
This printable is free to download for everyone over in Cub Club.
